Our topic is Celebrations and Light. We have enjoyed talking about how we celebrate Bonfire Night and learning about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
In this photo we are making a big painting of a Hanukkah light using hot, fiery colours.

We really enjoyed using different techniques to create these fantastic firework pictures and models.

For our home learning projects we pretended to be scientists who discovered a new species of animal. We invented our own creatures, drew them, made models of them in their habitats, and wrote fact files about them.

This term our topic has been ‘What a wonderful world!’
We have been learning about local habitats and the organisms that live there. Literacy, science, art and design & technology have been taught under this over-arching theme, whereas R.E., Maths and P.E. have been taught separately.

This term, in Pink Class, our topic has been: ‘What a Wonderful World’, where we have been finding out about different habitats- a home for animals and plants.
We visited the Northmoor Trust and identified the plants and mini- beasts that lived in the grasslands and woodland. We also looked for evidence of animal homes by looking for tracks and droppings. We found evidence of badger tracks.
In class we have used keys to identify the plants and animals that live in our school grounds. We researched food chains on the Internet and created some of our own.

Mauve’s class topic this term is ‘It’s a kind of magic’. We started our topic with a visit from a magician who taught us some magic tricks. We then have completed a three week block of work on Harry Potter. We have been learning about mixtures in Science and the properties of different materials. We are looking forward to our end of topic event which is a Science and Magic show on Friday the 12th December 2008.
