In addition to guided and shared reading each week, Owl class have a weekly book discussion session where pupils discuss the books they have enjoyed and share their ideas about them. Pupils are welcome to bring their own favourite books in from home on these days to share with their friends. The classroom has a very well stocked book corner which we update as often as possible, often selecting new books in response to pupils’ own suggestions. This term new books for our classroom have included: Where’s Wally, Where’s the meerkat, Asterix, Mr Gum, Horrid Henry, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Millie Molly Mandy.
Owl class have a graffiti board in the book corner, where pupils can tell their friends about any brilliant books they have read. See some recent recommendations below:
I recommend the book Fly Traps because it’s about plants, how to care for them and when to plant them.
I recommend Kipper’s A-Z it helps you learn your alphabet and to know your letters, it’s a rhyming book.
I recommend I am absolutely too small for school. It has loads of pictures and lots of interesting word phrases and nouns. There is a creepy, scary monster and both Charlie and Lola love pink milk!
