Attainment and achievement

At Northbourne, our mission – to nurture excellence – is underpinned by our aim to ensure all of our pupils become motivated and successful learners during their time here. To achieve this, all staff work hard to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which is up-to-date, innovative and motivating.

Reading, writing and maths are at the heart of this curriculum. We believe that these core subjects are of fundamental importance in ensuring our pupils can achieve highly and access other subjects fully as they move through their education.  Our curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to develop and apply these skills in a range of motivating contexts, helping them become confident and fluent readers, writers and mathematicians.

The results of our latest end of Key Stage assessments in these core subjects (from 2017-18) are included below. Our evaluation and analysis of these results each year informs our ongoing school development planning, aimed at ensuring continual improvement in all aspects of our provision at Northbourne.

DfE Compare Schools: Northbourne Primary School

Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium funding is additional money allocated to schools by the government to address underlying inequalities between children eligible to Free School Meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the children who need it most.  Schools are accountable for how they spend their Pupil Premium funding, and need to ensure this has an impact on supporting the achievement and attainment of pupils from lower-income families.

The documents below show how we use Pupil Premium funding at Northbourne, and some of the impact this has.
